Mr. Stover's business career, which has spanned 35 plus years, has been concentrated in banking and finance. He has held executive level positions with Mellon Bank, Bank of New England, Equimark Corporation, GE Capital's Corporate Finance Group and First Western Bancorp, among others.
Mr. Stover brings a diverse set of experiences to Birchmere Capital. He was President and Chief Operating Officer of First Western Bancorp, Inc., a regional banking company he joined in November 1996. He was responsible for management of the corporation's operating subsidiaries as well as for oversight of the lending and credit functions. Mr. Stover's tenure at First Western ended with the sale of the company in August 1999. Prior to First Western, he was a founder of ARC Capital, which specialized in advising clients regarding acquisitions, recapitalizations, crisis or turnaround management, and general financial consulting. Mr. Stover also established, Stover & Associates, for the purpose of providing portfolio valuations, due diligence and problem investment resolution prior to becoming a founding partner of ARC Capital. Stover & Associates has provided expert testimony on banking and finance related issues. Mr. Stover was Managing Director for Portfolio and Credit at the Corporate Finance Group of GE Capital where he was responsible for the underwriting of new investment (debt and equity) transactions, for the ongoing management of the $3 Billion investment portfolio and for general management duties. As Executive Vice President and Chief Credit Officer of Equimark Corporation, a Pittsburgh based bank holding company, he was one of three senior executives recruited to affect a turnaround of this troubled banking company. The turnaround was accomplished in less than two years at which time Equimark was sold to an in-market competitor. Mr. Stover has served as Executive Vice President at Bank of New England, where he was responsible for the management of in excess of $4 billion in troubled loans and other assets. During his tenure at Mellon Bank he held a variety of executive positions including the responsibility for the liquidation of approximately one-half the assets at the Grant Street Bank, for the Credit Recovery Division and for international marketing. Other assignments at Mellon included Senior International Credit Officer, corporate banking and corporate cash management. Mr. Stover serves as a Director of Bliley Technologies, Safas Corporation and DMI Industries. He also serves on the board of WQED Multimedia and The Institute for Transfusion Medicine.
